The world is going to change! People and the public, in general, are demanding companies to be sustainable, to be social, and environmentally responsible, also known as Corporate Social Responsibility (or CSR).
The public at large has a different mindset now than a decade ago. Over the years, food processing or food chain supply became clear to us and we learned the amount of water that is needed to put beef on our table; we all want future generations to have a real future so we demand companies to give back, to plant trees or help local communities, for example.
According to Forbes, over 50% of customers are willing to pay more for a product or service if the company prioritizes sustainability. Also, investors are more likely to invest in companies with CSR, and overall helps to attract and retain talent.
“Among the 66% of global respondents willing to pay more, over 50% of them are influenced by key sustainability factors, such as a product being made from fresh, natural and/or organic ingredients (69%), a company being environmentally friendly (58%), and company being known for its commitment to social value (56%); sales and coupons didn’t even make the top five. For this group, personal values are more important than personal benefits, such as cost or convenience.”By Nielsen report in 2015.
This is an amazing opportunity for companies to react, use this advantage and increase their customer’s brand perception and keep their loyalty, based on sustainability and CRS.
On the other hand, CEOs and leaders often don’t know how to start their new journey.
The fact is that CRS and sustainability may look like a waste of money, but in the end increase revenue – keep in mind: customers are willing to pay more for your product/service!
Becoming sustainable is an investment that only brings benefits.
